MPS is Recruiting a Business Development Manager

Marine Power Systems is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help nurture and mature client interest in our floating wind and marine energy product portfolio. The successful candidate will assist with MPS business development activities, and support the Commercial Director qualify new clients and grow existing relationships to move MPS technology through to device sale. The Business Development Manager will play an active role in providing a high quality service to clients by developing the MPS value proposition and increasing MPS visibility in the global market with key stakeholders and influencers.


Working remotely and from the main office in Swansea, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Commercial Director implement the commercial strategy for MPS, supporting the commercial readiness of our technology aligned with client needs and deployment timelines.
  • Providing and promoting a high quality service across all market engagement activities.
  • Support the identification and prioritisation of new clients within the markets we serve and identify new market opportunities. 
  • Supporting existing client relationships and advancing down selection of MPS technology for farm developments. Assist with penetration and technology growth in international markets
  • Responding to developer RFIs and proactively identify opportunities.
  • Working closely with the engineering team to gain a deep understanding of the technology in order to speak fluently and incorporate key messages in marketing materials, aligning with our brand and product vision.
  • Articulating our value proposition to clients and staying updated with market trends and competitor developments to grow our market leading technology position. Expressing the value MPS devices bring to clients across their project lifecycle.
  • Supporting MPS’s wide range of outreach programs by developing innovative and relevant content, and representing MPS at face to face events
  • Managing and maintaining MPS internal processes for developing client relationships.
  • Identifying MPS’s growing stakeholder landscape and ensure this growing community is appropriately informed, consulted and advised to help capitalise on market opportunities.

Skils / Qualifications 


  • 3+ years business development in the energy / renewables / oil & gas or similar sector
  • Proven track record of generating and converting opportunities into commercial contracts
  • Strong focus on delivering service quality
  • 3+ years’ experience working across commercial, marketing and technology teams
  • Understanding of pre-sales commercial activities and associated steps to deliver first sale.
  • Experience with CRM data entry.
  • Organised with a strong ability to plan and prioritise under pressure with non-moveable deadlines.
  • Multi-tasker with good organisational skills capable of juggling numerous competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present at executive/Board level both internal and externally.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills.
  • Highly effective communicator, specifically with excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
  • First class interpersonal, networking and selling skills.
  • High level of initiative and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel and undertake overnight stays.
  • IT literate. Excellent report writing skills.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • A genuine interest and passion for addressing the challenges of energy generation at sea towards meeting sustainable climate change targets.


  • Good understanding of the organisations overall business and its objectives.
  • Experience working in the marine, marine renewables or energy sectors.
  • Proficiency in another European language
  • Risk management skills.
  • Value selling/ pricing development.
